Marines Using M110 SASS

3D Recon Marines on Okinawa are the first Marine Snipers to start using the new M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System. They received the weapons on January 10, 2011 and started training on them. The semi-automatic weapons allow the snipers to more rapidly engage targets in built-up areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

No Former Marines

"I set the policy about two weeks ago – there’s no such thing as a former Marine. You’re a Marine, just in a different uniform and you’re in a different phase of your life. But you’ll always be a Marine because you went to Parris Island, San Diego or the hills of Quantico. So there’s no such thing s a former Marine." --Gen. James F. Amos, CMC
